13. Description
Planet Labs Inc. (Planet) requests a 180-day extension of the special temporary authority (STA) granted in File No. SAT-STA-20170713-00104, incorporated herein by reference, to communicate in the 8025-8400 MHz band with ground stations in Troll, Antarctica and Punta Arenas, Chile. Grant of this extension request serves the public interest because it will provide Planet with the additional downlink capacity needed to support the transmission of imaging data from its satellite constellation pending the grant of its satellite modification application, SAT-MOD-20170713-00103 that, inter alia, seeks authority to modify the restriction on the earth stations with which Planet is permitted to communicate in the X-band frequencies.
