Accordingly, DIRECTV is authorized for a period of 30 days, commencing upon launch of the DIRECTV KU—79W Fixed— Satellite Service space station (Call Sign $2861), to conduct telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C) using the 14001 MHz and 14496.5 MHz (Earth—to—space) frequencies for telecommand and the 11700.75 MHz and 11702.25 MHz (space—to—Earth) frequencies for telemetry for launch and early orbit phase (LEOP) operations. Operations under this authorization are subject to the terms, conditions, and technical specifications set forth in DIRECTV‘s application and the Federal Communications Commission‘s rules, and are subject to the conditions set forth below. 1. All operations under this grant of special temporary authority must be on an unprotected and non—harmful interference basis. DIRECTV must not cause harmful interference to, and shall not claim protection from interference caused to it by, any other lawfully operating radio communication system. 2. In the event of any harmful interference as a result of operations under this grant of special temporary authority, DIRECTV must cease operations immediately upon notification of such interference and shall immediately inform the Commission, in writing, of such an event. 3. DIRECTV must coordinate operations of DIRECTV KU—79W with existing geostationary space stations to ensure that no unacceptable interference results during LEOP. 4. DIRECTV must notify the Commission, in writing within three business days of the commencement of LEOP that TT&C operations have begun under this grant of special temporary authority. 5. REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY Call Sign: $2861 DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC ("DIRECTV") hereby requests Special Temporary Authority ("STA") for a period of up to 30 days to conduct Telemetry Tracking and Control ("TTAC") for the DIRECTV KU—79W satellite (call sign 2861) during the launch and early operations phase ("LEOP") of the satellite‘s mission. Launch is currently scheduled for May 20, 2015. The specific DIRECTV KU—79W TTAC frequencies to be used are 14001 MHz and 14496.5 MHz for telecommand and 11700.75 MHz and 11702.25 MHz for telemetry. DIRECTV requests that the STA be structured to begin upon launch of the satellite. DIRECTV will coordinate with potentially affected satellite operators in accordance with industry practice, and will operate on a non— interference basis during this migration. The requested STA will serve the public interest by ensuring that the DIRECTV KU—7IW satellite is properly controlled during LEOP as it is placed into orbit for testing and commercial operations. Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests that the Commission grant this STA request as expeditiously as possible.
