Re:    Notice of Commencement of Inclined Orbit Operations for Intelsat 5
       Call Sign S2704

Dear Ms. Dortch:

        Pursuant to Section 25.280(a) of the Commission's rules (47 C.F.R. §
25.280(a)), Intelsat License LLC hereby notifies the FCC of the
commencement of inclined orbit operations for Intelsat 5. Intelsat intends
shortly to begin drifting Intelsat 5 from 169.0° E.L. to 65.45° E.L. pursuant to
Special Temporary Authority (“STA”).1 As noted in the STA requests, at
47.5° E.L., Intelsat 5 will operate in inclined orbit mode pursuant to the ITU
filings of the German Administration. Set forth below is the information
required by the Commission.

(1)    The operator's name is Intelsat License LLC.

(2)    The satellite left the 0.05° inclination control box on October 21, 2012.
       The last north/south station-keeping maneuver occurred on October 12,
       2012.

(3)    The initial inclination (after the last north/south station-keeping
       maneuver) was 0.0319°.

(4)    The rate of change in inclination per year is as follows:

       2012 – 0.812° per year
       2013 – 0.787° per year
       2014 – 0.771° per year
       2015 – 0.765° per year
       2016 – 0.769° per year
       2017 – 0.777° per year

       2019 —0.823° per year
       2020 —0.857° per year

The expected end—of—life of the satellite accounting for inclined orbit
operations is December 31, 2020.
