                          APPLICATION OF SES AMERICOM, INC.

SES Americom, Inc. (“SES Americom,” doing business as “SES WORLD

SKIES”1) hereby respectfully requests a sixty-day extension of its special temporary authority to

position the AMC-5 Ku-band satellite at 79.05º W.L., where it is serving as an in-orbit spare.2

The extension is sought pending action on SES WORLD SKIES’ request to reassign AMC-5

permanently to that location.3

In the AMC-5 Modification, SES WORLD SKIES explained that reassignment of

AMC-5 would simplify stationkeeping at the nominal 79º W.L. orbital location following

relocation of the AMC-2 spacecraft to that position and would permit SES WORLD SKIES to

make efficient use of its space stations to provide service to customers.4 The Commission

On September 7, 2009, SES S.A. announced that the newly integrated operations of its two
indirect subsidiaries, New Skies Satellites B.V. and SES Americom would be conducted under a
single brand name, SES WORLD SKIES. The new brand name does not affect the underlying
legal entities that hold Commission authorizations or U.S. market access rights.

granted an initial special temporary authority for the relocation in July.5 Grant of a 60-day

extension of the AMC-5 STA will serve the public interest by enabling operation of AMC-5, as

needed, to restore or supplement AMC-2’s Ku-band capacity at the nominal 79° W.L. orbital

location and facilitating safe operation of the satellites at that location.

SES WORLD SKIES hereby certifies that no party to this application is subject to

a denial of federal benefits pursuant to Section 5301 of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988, 21

U.S.C. § 862.

SES WORLD SKIES waives any claim to the use of any particular frequency or

of the electromagnetic spectrum as against the regulatory power of the United States because of

the previous use of the same, whether by license or otherwise, and requests an authorization in

accordance with this application.

For the foregoing reasons, SES WORLD SKIES seeks a 60-day extension of

temporary authority to position of AMC-5 at 79.05º W.L. and employ the satellite as a Ku-band

in-orbit spare.

                                                Respectfully submitted,

                                                SES AMERICOM, INC.
