Intelsat has a pendlng apphcatlon to relocate Intelsat 706 (Call Sign $2401) to 54.85° E.L. in March 2009." This STA will ensure continuity of service to Intelsat‘s customers in the Indian Ocean Region pending regulatory approval and completion of redeployment maneuvers. During this temporary period, Intelsat agrees to comply with the existing conditions of its authorization to operate Intelsat 702 at 54.85° E.L. Moreover, grant of this temporary request will not result in increased risk of harmful interference because Intelsat 702‘s operations at 54.85° E.L. are already on a non—harmful interference basis. Intelsat will also continue to operate in accordance with India‘s existing coordination agreements regarding the nominal 55° E.L. location. Intelsat attaches hereto a six—month extension of the commercial agreement between the Government of India‘s Department of Space and Intelsat that allows Intelsat to operate a satellite at the nominal 55° E.L. location. The underlying commercial agreement previously was filed with the Commission under a request for confidential treatment. For the reasons set forth herein, Intelsat respectfully requests that the Commission expeditiously grant this request for special temporary authority to continue to operate the Intelsat 702 satellite at 54.85° E.L. for an additional * thirty days. * Sincerely, .
