Re: Intelsat 8, Call Sign: $2460

Dear Ms. Dortch:

Intelsat License LLC ("Intelsat") hereby notifies the Commission that it has successfully de—orbited its
Intelsat 8 satellite through an emergency procedure on December 26, 2016. On December 25, 2016,
Intelsat 8 lost all power from the north solar array, which resulted in the inability to keep the payload
operational and recharge the satellite batteries. As a result of this anomaly, Intelsat decided to de—orbit
the satellite through an emergency procedure.

The final measured orbit of the Intelsat 8 satellite is 1603 km above the geostationary arc, with an
apogee and perigee of 3043.1 km and 165 km above the arc, respectively. Intelsat depleted the
propellant tanks to the best ofits ability before power to the satellite ran out, and while it believes the
Ox has been successfully vented, there is still some fuel remaining onboard. In the course of de—orbiting
the satellite, Intelsat discharged the batteries, disconnected the power from the bus, and shut off the
transmitters.

Please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned should you have any questions.

Respectfully submitted,
