Launch Notification of 48 satellites July 14, 2017 Space Station Call Sign S2912 Dear Ms. Dortch: On July 14, 2017, consistent with its Commission authorization1, Planet Labs Inc. (Planet) successfully launched and put into operations 47 of 48 satellites, known as Flock 2k plane, to a nominal orbital altitude of approximately 475 by 475 km with inclination of 97.0 degrees. These satellites operate in the authorized bands 8025-8400 MHz (space-to-Earth) for remote sensing data, 2025-2110 MHz (Earth to space) for telecommand data, 401-402 MHz (space-to-Earth) and 449.75-450.25 (Earth to space) for telemetry, tracking, and control operations. 47 of the 48 satellites are operating nominally and we are unable to establish contact with Flock 2k-42. Investigations are ongoing, but a deployment failure is presumed. Should you have any questions, please contact the undersigned. Pursuant to Condition 16 of the above referenced authorization, as well as Sections 25.164(a), 25.164(f), and 25.173(b) of the Commission’s Rules, I hereby certify that: (a) Planet launched the Flock 2k satellite plane consisting of 48 satellites on July 14, 2017; (b) The space stations have been placed in their nominal assigned orbital altitudes of approximately 475 by 475 km with inclination of 97.00 degrees; (c) The early in-orbit testing of the space stations has been completed; (d) 47 of the 48 satellites are operational and 1 satellite is presumed to have failed to deploy from the launch vehicle. (e) The measured performance of the operational space stations is consistent with their station authorization; and (f) The space stations are capable of using their assigned frequencies. 3.
