                                REQUEST FOR MINOR MODIFICATION

DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (“DIRECTV”) hereby requests a minor modification of its
authorization to operate the DIRECTV RB-2A space station (call sign S2796). Specifically,
DIRECTV seeks to move the space station 0.035º – from 102.765º W.L. to 102.8º W.L. – in
order to accommodate the upcoming launch of the DIRECTV 15 space station, which will also
operate at the same nominal orbital location.

At present, DIRECTV operates two satellites at the nominal 103º W.L. orbital location:
DIRECTV 10 at 102.815º W.L.1 and DIRECTV 12 (including the DIRECTV RB-2A payload) at
102.765º W.L.2 DIRECTV 15 is currently scheduled to be launched by Arianespace on or about
May 20, 2015.3 DIRECTV anticipates that, after orbit-raising and in-orbit testing have been
completed, the spacecraft will arrive at 103º W.L. in mid-July 2015.

DIRECTV 15 will be launched to operate at 102.75º W.L.4 In order to make room for
this additional satellite at the 103º W.L. location, DIRECTV proposes to relocate its two existing
satellites very slightly – by 0.035º each – such that DIRECTV 10 would operate at 102.85º W.L.
and DIRECTV 12/RB-2A would operate at 102.8º W.L., and each would maintain its East-West
station keeping tolerance to ±0.025º. By making these minor changes, DIRECTV will ensure
that each of its satellites can operate without overlapping the operational area of any non-
DIRECTV satellite.

Because moving the satellite only 0.035° will have a de minimis effect on its operations,
including predicted gain contours and sample link budgets, revised contours and budgets have
not been submitted. In accordance with Section 25.117(d)(1) of the Commission’s rules,
DIRECTV hereby certifies that the remaining information in its station license and associated
application(s) has not changed.

Accordingly, DIRECTV requests that its license for the DIRECTV RB-2A space station
be modified to authorize operations at 102.8º W.L. ±0.025º.

DIRECTV has been licensed for the 17/24 GHz BSS portion of this satellite at 102.85º W.L. See
DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC, 24 FCC Rcd. 9393 (Int’l Bur. 2009), recon. denied, 27 FCC Rcd. 5932
(Int’l Bur. 2012). Its applications to modify that authorization to (among other things) place the
satellite at 102.75º W.L. and for authority to launch and operate the Ka-FSS portion of this satellite
(which also provides information on the 12/17 GHz DBS payload) are currently pending. See IBFS
    File Nos. SAT-MOD-20140612-00066 and SAT-LOA-20140825-00094.
