Re: Further Supplement to Application for Authority to Modify
          Intelsat 5 License
Call Sign $2704; File No.: SAT—MOD—20121002—00176

Dear Ms. Dortch:

In response to questions from the FCC staff, Intelsat License LLC ("Intelsat")
hereby further supplements its above—referenced pending application to extend
the license term for the Intelsat 5 satellite (call sign $2704) until December 31,
2020, the satellite‘s estimated end of service life.

As Intelsat previously has noted,‘ the Intelsat 5 (f/k/a PAS—5) satellite has
experienced the failure of both XIPS and is operating on its fully—redundant,
back—up chemical propulsion system. There is no single point of failure on the
satellite. As previously stated, there is no reason to believe the spacecraft will
not continue to provide service to customers for the full extended license term
requested.

Please contact the undersigned should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Susan H. Crandall
Assistant General Counsel
