Re: End-of-life Disposal of EchoStar 1
               IBFS File Nos. SAT-LOA-20150512-00034
               Call Sign S2739

Dear Ms. Dortch:

EchoStar Satellite Operating Corporation (ESOC) hereby notifies the Commission that the
EchoStar 1 satellite has successfully completed end-of-life deorbit maneuvers and has been placed
into a disposal orbit more than 350 km. above the geostationary arc, consistent with of the terms
and conditions of its license and 47 C.F.R. § 25.283.

EchoStar does note that during the de-orbit of EchoStar 1, a propulsion pyro valve located between
the two hydrazine tanks was left unfired following the tank venting due to an increased risk
associated with inadvertently igniting any residual hydrazine vapors and droplets remaining inside
the propellant lines near the pyro valve. The risk associated with the unintentional firing of the
propulsion pyro is very low considering the electrical properties required to ignite the pyro are not
a naturally occurring possibility and was discussed with members of the International Bureau after
the fact.

Please direct any questions regarding this matter to the undersigned.

                                                         Respectfully submitted,

                                                          /s/ Jennifer A. Manner
