                           MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME

       Motient Services Inc. ("Motient‘") and Mobile Satellite Ventures Subsidiary LLC ("MSV

Sub"), pursuant to Section 1.46 of the Commission‘s Rules, hereby requests a revised pleading

cycle in the above—captioned matter. The current deadline for filing replies and oppositions in

this proceeding is April 30, 2001. The current deadline for filing responses is May 7, 2001.

       Motient and MSV Sub request a new deadline of May 7, 2001 for all replies and

oppositions in this proceeding and a new deadline of May 14, 2001 for responses. The requested

extension is necessary to enable Motient and MSV Sub to prepare a pleading fully responsive to

the comments and petitions filed in the proceeding. Grant of this request will serve the public


    interest by ensuring that the Commiussion will have the most complete and well—developed record

possible on which to decide this matter.

           Counsel for Motient and MSV Sub has notified all of the parties to this proceeding

regarding this request, as well as Commission staff. Of those parties counsel for Motient and

MSV Sub was able to contact, no one objected to the requested extension.‘
