(‘Motient‘) and Mobile Satellite Ventures Subsidiary LLC (‘MSV Sub‘) filed on March 2, 2001. Currently, Twin Falls County Sheriff‘s employs Motient‘s satellite communications services as a complement to an existing communications system. Mobile radio and cellular phones provide spotty or no coverage in many regions of the county, yet we must maintain dependable communication to ensure the safety of our employees and an efficient operation. Motient‘s service is used on an as— needed basis, and it remains always ready. With Motient‘s service, our field deputies have dependable access to communication when traveling in remote regions where analog telephones and pagers do not work. Therefore, the Twin Falls County Sheriff‘s Office agrees with Motient and MSV that the new system, as outlined in the application, is needed and would continue to improve communications in rural and remote communities.
