A signal including a plurality of successive and amplified nuclear magnetic resonance pulses obtained from a sample is gated to a display instrument only during separated short intervals of time which each embrace the period of occurrence of one of said pulses. Integration of a succession of detected pulses is effected under the control of a timing circuit.
