Decoupling of multiple resonances in a nuclear magnetic resonance analysis is provided by subjecting the sample to radio frequency decoupling energy centered about an RF sample irradiating frequency f.sub.1. The radio frequency decoupling energy defines a quite slot characterized by the absence of decoupling energy and which is symmetrical about the frequency f.sub.1. As sample scanning occurs, the slot progresses through the spectrum thereof enabling observance of an N.M.R. resonance substantially free from spin-coupling.
