The resistance of .alpha.-olefin polymers to copper induced oxidation is improved by adding thereto 0.01 to 2 percent melamine along with conventional antioxidants and light stabilizers. The efficiency of the melamine as a stabilizer is improved if the particle size is below about 55.mu..
