Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Virgin Galactic requests special temporary authority for 120 days. This timeframe would provide and relates only to coverage while the FCC processes our longer-duration experimental license application. This application covers usage of VHF and L-band frequencies at Spaceport America in New Mexico that are required ground and flight testing. See ELS File No. 0745-EX-CN-2020 (the “License Application”). Virgin Galactic requests STA for the same technical parameters at 123.275 MHz, 123.450 MHz, 123.525 MHz, 1445.5 MHz, 1451.5 MHz, 1462.5 MHz, 1470.5 MHz, and 1480.5 MHz at Spaceport America as provided in its successful coordination with AFTRCC. For convenience, Virgin Galactic attaches the VHF and L-band pre-coordination AFTRCC exhibits here. The License Application and associated exhibits provide full details of the purpose of the request for experimental authority and are incorporated herein by reference.
