An STA is necessary because we will be using Marine X-band radar in a secondary application. We need temporary authority in order to turn our system on at the designated airport.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
We are attempting to see if an X-band radar system will pick up fast moving objects (aircraft) in and around the traffic pattern. This radar unit will not be used for any aviation purpose other than to recognize these objects.
