Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Sensormatic is testing a product for export only operating in the 865-868 MHz band. Testing will include operating the transmitter. The product is an RFID reader for warehouse use. Operation on these frequencies is not licensed in Europe but require licensing for operation in the United States where testing and development is being done. The Sensormatic RFID reader uses frequency hopping modulated and unmodulated RF to interrogate and read or write data that is stored on RFID tags located on shipping containers, pallets, cartons, and idividual products. To determine how well the reader will perform in an actual installation, Sensormatic has simulated warehouse conditions and needs to activate the reader at various locations around the warehouse for different types of product tags and for different product stacking methods. Testing will need to be on-going to establish statistical data sufficient to insure that reliable operation may be expected at diverse locations under all expected conditions.
