Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The purpose of this STA is to permit access to VHF, UHF and microwave spectrum for video production of an automobile race (the V8 Supercars event) at the Circuit of the Americas race track, during the period May 16-19, 2013. The normal broadcast auxiliary and LTTS channels will be in use by regular broadcast operations and are not available during this limited period event. The 2.2 GHz channels specified in this STA are installed in the cars and are very low power transmitters for video production. The cars are brought in from Asia and Europe and the frequency range is fixed. There are two cahnnels specified which are used for flight test telemetry and are used by prior coordination with the Aerospace and Flight Test Radio Coordinating Council. A copy of AFTRCCs frequency coordination approval will be filed as an amendment to this application when received, which is expected to be imminent.
