Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
STA request is to allow radiation from the JELNS Sprial 1 radar set. This equipment has been previously approved by under the following Commission file numbers and call signs: File number 0675-EX-ST-2013, Call sign WG9XUG, and existing STA file number 0336-EX-ST-2014, call sign WH9XLV. Parameters of the radar set are classified and were submitted as part of the original STA request. The language and restrictions concerning the use of, or development of, IFF as part of this STA, as stated in the existing grant, as well as altitude restrictions are entirely acceptable for purposes of this STA request submittal.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
To allow radiation from the radar for use in demonstrations to potential US Government Agencies. The purpose of the STA request is to allow radiation from the radar for use in demonstrations to potential US Government Agencies. In particular TCOM, LP wishes to demonstrate operation of the radar on an aerostat platform to representatives of the Department of Homeland Security, to assess utility as part of a border protection program. Due to budget constraints it is anticipated that any demonstrations would take place in early 2015 and therefore after the expiration date of the present grant.
