Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Table Top Media, LLC (“Applicant”) is in the process of developing a new model of its previously certificated Part 15 device (a tabletop tablet at restaurants and similar locations used for ordering, entertainment, etc.). Applicant would like to test this new model at a limited number of its customers restaurants. All test devices will be labeled with the required disclosures. Applicant will install no more than 50 of these devices at any single restaurant location for such testing (this application is for six (6) sites and requests authority to operate a total of 300 devices at these locations). All these test devices will have the requisite permanently affixed label with the disclosure information set forth above. In 2017, Applicant tested 50 of these devices under STA (Call Sign WL9XLA, File No. 0892-EX-ST-2017) at a single location on the same 2 GHz and 5 GHz bands set forth in this application. Applicant needs to conduct the additional testing requested in this application for STA because it now has added a new contactless payment option to its tabletop tablets. This new payment option will use the 13.56 MHz band. Applicant needs to collect as much information as possible on how this new option operates and how this option will be used by restaurant patrons. The additional restaurant locations and additional units where STA to operate is requested herein will provide Applicant with needed data on the viability of this new feature. Applicant closely will monitor the testing at all locations at all times. Applicant immediately will stop operation of all test devices if any interference occurs and only will resume test operations when such interference has been eliminated. Tim Leslie, Applicant’s Vice President of Restaurant Client Services, will be the person who will be responsible for terminating operation of the devices if such interference occurs. Mr. Leslie’s telephone number is 214.580.4820.
