Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We require a license in order to perform critical tests of an experimental radar system we are developing in fulfillment of a Government Contract (FA8750-15-C-0023). We need the STA to cover our radar transmission around the Plano, TX area. The testing is scheduled to take place from August 1 2016 to December 31 2016. The duration of the planned tests is shorter than 6 months.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
We would need to perform simple tests with our Radar system outdoors, which will utilize 800 MHz bandwidth around 9 GHz, with ERP of 190 kW. We would use calibrated targets to characterize system performance. The radar system would be mounted on the balcony of a building owned by our sub-contractor, and we would also perform mobile tests on roadways where our radar system would be fixed to the bed of a pickup truck, extending no more than 2-3 m above the street level. These tests which would be performed at various times in the 5 month period will be critical to evaluate the system performance.
