Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We require an FCC Special Temporary Authority (STA) for JIFX 26?4, scheduled for 10–14 August, to legally operate and evaluate the FLEXNET Unattended Ground Sensor system during U.S. military experimentation with NPS and DOW. FLEXNET employs low?power RF communications between sensors and gateways, and transmitting these signals without an STA would risk interference with existing spectrum users on DoD and civilian bands. The STA ensures all testing is compliant with federal spectrum regulations, enables controlled data?link performance assessment in a realistic field environment, and provides the necessary authorization to fully exercise the system’s capabilities throughout the experiment.

Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of the JIFX 26?4 experiment is to validate that the FLEXNET Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) system can reliably detect, classify, and report activity across the Camp Roberts training area in California, providing U.S. partners with accurate situational awareness during live field operations. To execute this testing, we require an FCC Special Temporary Authority (STA) to operate FLEXNET’s RF communications legally and safely alongside other government, academic, and commercial users participating in JIFX. The STA enables us to integrate and experiment with DoD elements, NPS, and DOW, and to evaluate, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense, sensor and communication technologies currently fielded by allied and partner nations’ militaries. This authorization ensures compliant spectrum use while allowing a realistic, collaborative assessment of FLEXNET’s performance in a multi?user operational environment.
