Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:

This STA is requested to support NSF and NIJ sponsored cognitive radio network research prototype demonstrations at the Idaho National Laboratory. Due to technical and logistic issues the experiments have been postponed to January 2014. Experimental measurements are expected to be taken over several days spanning few months, until April 2014. Due to the government shutdown the original dates for the experiments have been re-scheduled. Hence we request an extension of the STA license until Dec. 7, 2013.

Over the air pilot demonstration of cognitive radio research and experimental RF spectrum sharing technology. Over the air pilot demonstration of cognitive radio research and experimental RF spectrum sharing technology. This will include field demonstration of experimental cognitive wireless technology being developed via NSF and NIJ programs. Technology being developed targets secure and reliable public safety and law enforcement wireless communications.
