Please explain the purpose of operation:
Launch vehicle communications, for commercial space launch mission from Cape Canaveral. Launch vehicle communications, for commercial space launch mission from Cape Canaveral. Primary payload is SES-8 satellite, which will be launched into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). Payload will not transmit during ascent to orbit. Basic orbital parameters for the launch vehicle SECOND STAGE (following satellite deployment) are approximately 80,000 x 290 km with an inclination of 21 degrees. The launch licensing authority for this mission is the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation. Launch vehicle debris mitigation information will be reviewed through FAA processes in connection with pending application number A-13-SXT-147. The launch date is currently planned for (no earlier than) 10 October 2013.
