Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Shared Spectrum Company has an immediate need to perform field tests for the upcoming Office of the Secretary of Defense, Rapid Reaction Technology Office, Thunderstorm 20-1 Technology Discovery and Innovation Event. This event will demonstrate the work that we have done under DARPA Contract No. W911NF-18-C-0027. This event was just announced on 9 January 2020 and the event takes place on 26 February 2020. In preparation for the event, we need to immediately begin filed tests using the radios subject to the license.

Please explain the purpose of operation:
Shared Spectrum Company is under contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) on a project that involves the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to locate and identify radio frequency (RF) spectrum users over a large area. – 10s of km2. This phase of the project will use approximately five low altitude (<100 m) UASs in a field demonstration to show the ability of the UAS to collect spectrum data and then adjust the UAS behavior based on the measurements. The radios in the submitted license are required to transmit data to and from the UAS for the collection of the spectrum data and for UAS behavior adjustment based on the collected data. This radio system is separate from the radio systems used for UAS command and control, which are licensed separately. The UASs will fly at test ranges and those flights are coordinated and approved by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). Additionally field tests will occur with ground-based systems where antenna heights are less than 6 meters.
