Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
An STA is necessary to authorize the temporary operation of a prototype checkpoint-free security screening system utilizing 76-81 GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar technology. The system is designed to deliver unmatched throughput for the non-invasive detection of concealed weapons and threats in high-density public environments, without requiring individuals to stop, queue, or remove personal items. As a prototype product not yet holding standard Part 15 equipment authorization, an STA provides the appropriate short-term framework for real-world demonstration and evaluation across multiple venues and locations within the United States. A full experimental license under Form 442 is unnecessary given the short-duration, event-specific nature of these demonstrations. Planned demonstration environments include, but are not limited to, sports stadiums/arenas, convention centers, and transportation hubs. As representative examples, demonstrations are anticipated at Madison Square Garden (New York, NY), Rate Field (Chicago, IL), and Navy Pier (Chicago,IL). The STA will enable evaluation of system performance across diverse real-world environments in support of ongoing research, development, and commercialization of a next-generation public safety solution.

Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of this operation is to demonstrate a prototype checkpoint-free security screening system utilizing a high-resolution 76–81 GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar designed for the non-invasive detection of concealed weapons in high-density public venues. The system transmits low-power millimeter-wave signals and analyzes backscattered energy to identify anomalies consistent with concealed threats beneath clothing, without requiring individuals to stop or queue. This demonstration program is intended to evaluate system performance across diverse real-world environments including sports stadiums, convention centers, and transportation hubs, in support of ongoing research, development, and commercialization of a next-generation public safety solution.
