Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
JLENS Spiral 1 System contains a transponder which will emit RF signals when interrogated to support the IFF, Identify Friend Foe, function. The transponder will be mounted to an Aerostat air vehicle and fly to altitudes of up to 760m depending on launch base altitude. As the JLENS Spiral 1 is an air vehicle, it is required to be able to respond when interrogated by IFF systems. The Transponder will allow others to recognize the JLENS Spiral 1 System as a ?Friend?.
