Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
, Raytheon seeks this STA in order to allow testing and technical demonstrations of the MFRFS RADAR to support threat detection and support the APS technical demonstrations. Demonstrating performance of the MFRFS RADAR to prospective buyers, within the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Army, Department of the Navy, Department of the Air Force, and other U.S Government agencies requiring Active Protection. These systems have high level attention for their ability to provide active protection for our military in near term application. This system is to be deployed to the warfighter upon completion of this test.

Raytheon Network Centric Systems (NCS) has developed a Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) compact high gain active phase array RADAR designed for operation with the Future Combat System (FCS) Man Ground Vehicle (MGV). MFRFS is also designed for use with Current Force (CF) Army vehicles such as Stryker, Bradley and Abrams. The MFRFS acts as a front end RADAR sensor for the Active Protection System (APS) which is designed to provide critical support and protection for our active Armed Forces. This critical technology is being developed to provide protection for the Armed Forces against threats such as Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) for near term application. Current integration and testing of the MFRFS with the APS is critical to support the FCS program which is being monitored by General Cartwright in the Army FCS program office.
