Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This is an STA for demonstration of UAS technology. The demonstration is expected to last less than a day during the period requested. The period requested is intended to allow for scheduling glitches. See exhibits attached for additional explanation. Raytheon has JUST learned that the 315 MHz radio will ONLY be available on Nov. 29. Raytheon is requesting authorization to operate on November 29, 2012, INDOORS ONLY, in Tucson, AZ at its headquarters facilities.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
To control a novel unmanned aerial system. The proposed operation will use spectrum to control a novel unmanned aerial system, allowing for ground signals to control the airframe, and using an airborne transmitter to demonstrate the capabilities of the airfram as the applicant evaluated the usefulness of the airframe in development of its UAS program. See exhibits attached for additional information, including the importance of UAS development to the US military. This STA requests INDOOR USE ONLY, on Nov. 29, ,2012, for approximately 2 hours from 9 am to 11 am MST.
