This STA is a renew of STA 0119-ex-st-2002, which was granted to allow Qualcomm experiments while the Experimental license application 0225-EX-PL-2002 is pending. Grant of this application will permit Qualcomm to conduct thorough over the air operational validation and performance tests on their base station and mobile ASICS. Qualcomm's GSM wireless technology when combined with the proven CDMA technology will ensure that the next generation phones will provide highly efficient seamless communications to the public. Qualcomm is competing in an already established GSM market and therefore it is essential that they provide the highest quality GSM technology to remain competitive in the multi-technology 3G market (CMDA, W-CDMA, GSM). Qualcomm has utilized the company 'Comsearch' to locate spectrum where experiments can be performed without interfering with existing RF links.
