Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Applicant has developed hardware to demonstrate potential applications using unoccupied UHF spectrum in the 512-698 MHz band, corresponding to television channels 21-51 (the TV white spaces). A portion of Applicants demonstration involves brief, low power transmissions of an OFDM signal in an unoccupied 6 MHz channel in this band. All transmissions will be for a period of less than 10 minutes at a power of 50 mW or less, and will take place indoors. All transmissions will take place outside the protected service contours of incumbent operations.

Demonstrating potential applications of hardware developed to use unoccupied UHF spectrum (white spaces) in the 512-698 MHz band (see ET Docket No. 04-186). Applicant has developed hardware to demonstrate the potential for high-speed data applications using this spectrum, and seeks to use this hardware in demonstrations in the geographic location and during the time periods identified below.
