Parallel Wireless seeks to perform a demonstration of a prototype network system cellular base station in the Band 14 public safety LTE band. Parallel Wireless’s existing licenses do not cover the area and dates of the demonstration. Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
This operation is for a demonstration of a prototype network system cellular base station in the Band 14 public safety LTE band during Super Bowl 50, taking place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. Parallel Wireless has been asked to provide Band 14 coverage by the consortium known as BayRICS, the Bay Area Regional Interoperable Communications Systems Authority and the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC). There is no commercial activity or mission-critical telecommunications support being provided as part of this demonstration. Rather, the demonstration is proof-of-concept. BayRICS strongly supports this use of Band Class 14 spectrum within the BayRICS geographic area for this limited purpose, as is shown in the attached Exhibit A (Letter from BayRICS). Parallel Wireless understands that proper review of an STA request may take several weeks, and is therefore submitting this urgent request one day after being contacted to provide the Band 14 coverage for the Super Bowl.
