Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
UAV testing This FCC application is to request frequency approval to test a new UAV by completing operational flight evaluations and assessments at a distance of ~50nm from the Ground Control Station (GCS) or Launch and Recovery Element (LRE). Operational locations: Primary Launch Site: A1-Launch: Saguache Airport (04V): N 38° 05? 55.79? W 106° 10? 14.04?, Elevation: 7835 MSL; Primary Loiter Site: A2-Loiter: Location: N 37° 21? 37.40? W 105° 32? 50.48?, Elevation 7782 ft MSL, Orbit altitude is 3000 ft AGL or 10782 MSL, Orbit Size: 1/2 nm radius = 1nm diameter = 1.8 km = 1800 meters. Alternate Launch Site: B1-Lauch: Villa Grove Airfield: N 38° 15? 55.12? W 105° 57? 00.47?, Elevation: 7936 ft MSL; Alternate Loiter Site: B2-Loiter: Location: N 37° 27? 35.78? W 105° 38? 39.67?, Elevation 7624 ft MSL - Orbit Size: 1/2 nm radius = 1nm diameter = 1.8 km = 1800 meters. Tertiary / Operational LRE location: Leach Airport (1V8): N 37° 46? 49.95? W 106° 02? 24.84?, Elevation: 7608' MSL, Radius to cover entire COA area: ~80 nm radius. Emergency Procedures: Primary Emergency Landing Site Near Primary Loiter (A2): Location: N 37° 21? 34.55? W 105° 33? 23.08?, Elevation 7708 ft MSL. Alternate Emergency Landing Site is identical with Alternate Loiter (B2): Location: N 37° 27? 35.78? W 105° 38? 39.67?, Elevation 7624 ft MSL. Back-Up Emergency Landing Site for both Scenarios is: Blanca Airport (05V): Location: N 37° 24? 41.31? W 105° 33? 7.57?, Elevation 7732 ft MSL. These will be where the omni and directional antennas will be attached to the GCS, the aircraft will be flying either almost due south of the controlling area or to the SSE. All antennas will be below 6 meters in height. The Ground Control Station will use a L-3 Bandit as the primary C-2 link and a Silvus SC4210-485-EB as the secondary C-2 link. Both radios and are connected to Two (2) Tall Rod omni antennas (C-Band is Troll Systems, SL-ANT-4750-DPVH-3-02 and L/S-Band is Antcom, 52W-1.50-2.50P-XS-4-X) for Line of Sight (LOS) local control as well as one (1) directional antenna for Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) control (Troll, MT-300-LSC-TR-02). The telemetry radio will be the MicroHard MHX-920A connected to a PCTEL MN9155 whip antenna. The Aircraft will also use the L-3 Bandit as Primary C-2 and the Silvus as a secondary C-2 connected to an Antcom 2B-L-S-C-BANDVVV-XSSS-2 blade antenna. The telemetry radio will be the MicroHard MHX920A connected to a Haigh Farr 6008 blade antenna.
