Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Given the FCC position on Ultra Wide Bandwidth systems we need an STA to be able to import and demonstrate a Pipe Hawk GPR system to satisfy demand and projects within North American Gas Utility Companies. We missed the importation deadline of 15th July 2002 and are currently unable to import a demonstration unit from the UK manufacturer. We would keep the unit for demonstration only and will not sell the system out into the market. The Pipe Hawk manufacturer in the UK is currently starting the process of FCC test house approval and fore see no reason why the product should not obtain FCC certification. The Pipe Hawk system has a central frequency arrond 450MHZ, it is a ground coupled system and can only be used for ground scanning. We would also log a record of every time ,date, location that the system is utilized and make this record available to FCC upon request. We have spent two years promoting GPR into the gas Utility sector and now have several projects that require 'missing' plastic gas pipes to be accurately positioned ahead of excavation works that are due to be completed in December, February and March.
