Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
NextNet Wireless, Inc. (?NextNet?) hereby respectfully requests Special Temporary Authority (?STA?) to operate equipment for a one-day demonstration of May 19, 2004. NextNet proposes to demonstrate its non line-of-sight plug-and-play wireless access equipment at the Commissions May 19 Broadband Forum in Washington DC. The need for viable non line-of-sight equipment that can be installed and operated cost effectively is without question. See A Proposal for Revising the MDS and ITFS Regulatory Regime, submitted by the Wireless Communications Association International, Inc., the National ITFS Association and the Catholic Television Network, RM-10586 (filed Oct. 7, 2002). Accordingly, grant of this request is in the public interest. NextNet would operate its equipment using ITFS channels E1, E2, E3 and E4. NextNet has obtained the written consent of licensee George Washington University (ITFS Station WHG443, E-Group Channels) for its proposed operation. A copy of that consent is attached to this application.
