Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We are a team of San Jose State University students with advisors from Ames Research Center and elsewhere. We are conducting a short duration test, using a picosatellite (10 cm cube) in Low Earth Orbit. The experiment will use Short Burst Data modems to facilitate communication to misson control, using the Orbcomm and Iridium constellations. We believe an STA is necessary because this involves space to space communications. 6/10/2012 Also NASA JSC requests we add the amateur beacon to the STA application.
