Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
An original STA was granted 0255-EX-ST-2018, there was an equipment production delay and equipment is now available for testing. I spoke with Nancy at the FCC and she said just to resubmit. Michelin North America would like to test a Tire Tread Measuring device at its R and D Facility MARC, Located at 515 Michelin Rd, Greenville, SC 29605. The device was created in Europe by Michelin for tire tread measure and consist of 2 tire tread reader plates and a 2G gateway. The plates communicate via the gateway using RF 868MHz, a public bandwidth European Low Power Networks (LPWAN). For the test the gateway will be positioned approximate 100ft from the tread plates and located fully on MARC property. The RF868MHz freq. is used to transmit the data from the tire tread readers to the gateway. The tread readers are prototype devices and measurements need to be validated against North American tire designs

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Test is to validate new tread depth measuring equipment against validated equipment on US tire designs. Test is to validate new tread depth measuring equipment against validated equipment on US tire designs. The test equipment will be installed in line to existing equipment and will capture tread depth when driven over. This information is transmitted to a 2G gateway and then to a Michelin Server where it will be processed and compared to the validated test equipment
