Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
An experimental license is needed to perform the required FCC qualification testing prior to the submission to the FCC for independent FCC testing of a TV band unlicensed cognitive radio.
Special Temporary Authority application - Information
Class of Station:
MO
Nature of Service:
Experimental
Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
1) On-air propagation measurements of low power (? 30 dBm) transmitters operating in the UHF TV band between channels 21 and 51. 2) Evaluation of scanning mechanisms for the detection and measurement of HDTV (ATSC 8-VSB) pilot tones and wireless microphone in the UHF TV channel range of 21 to 51. 3) An RF scan of the 512 ? 698 MHz frequency spectrum will be done on each test run to avoid operation on HDTV station channels within the Grade B contour of all local HDTV stations. 4) Attached is the proposed Tx Transmit Mask (Exhibit 1). Emission designator is 18MOV7D 5) Two types of antennas will be used: 1. Omni directional Discone nominal gain 2 dB 2. Directional antenna 6 dB gain 6) Maximum Effective Radiated Power: 30 dBm
