This operation is a non-recurring service where regular authorization is not appropriate, to be conducted through the requested dates. testing these devices are to develop and evaluate for for CUAS detection applications no electronic jamming, or physical mitigations are involved. Because approval of the proposed license will contribute to the development of new technology, the proposed license is consistent with the public interest.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Operation to test up to 8 devices: 4 devices operating in the 24.45-24.65 GHz band and 4 devices operating in the 9.5-9.8 GHz band. Each set of 4 devices provides 360 degrees of coverage. Only one set of devices will be transmitting at any given time, and transmissions will not be continuous for the duration of the requested authorization period. The devices will be set up in an adjacent open field, within 0.5 km of the demonstration area, and no demonstration observer will be in close proximity to the device(s) during operation. Applicant will demonstrate this device for detecting UAS and general aviation aircraft within the airspace. Small UAS aircraft flown as part of the demonstration will be flown in accordance with 14 CFR Part 107, by licensed UAS pilots. All Part 107 regulations will be followed, and any required airspace pre-authorizations will be obtained in advance of flight operations. No directed-energy, RF-jamming, or electronic-attack functions will be employed — the equipment is passive-receive/active-radar detection and tracking equipment only.
