Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Lockheed Martin is seeking extension of its STA (File No. 0179-EX-ST-2016) to support a new mission for the launch and deployment of the WorldView-4 satellite on behalf of DigitalGlobe. Launch was scheduled for earlier in September; however, wildfires near the site at Vandenberg Air Force Base have resulted in unforeseen delays. Because of the uncertainty that the launch will be permitted prior to the expiration of the current STA, out of an abundance of caution, Lockheed Martin is submitting the instant request for a 30-day extension, until November 20, 2016, to authorize the services previously described in its initial request.
