Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Lockheed Martin Corporation respectfully requests STA to conduct short duration tests of a UHF system over the course of a couple of weeks. Because the exact start and end dates are not currently known, we are requesting a window of three months in which to conduct the tests. Operations are at very low power and are not expected to be ongoing. Accordingly, an STA is the preferred licensing method.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The program wishes to test a very low power demonstration system in the UHF band. The testing will consist of isolated bursts of no longer than several minutes, using a tower demonstration radar prior to deployment to a U.S. government site. These operations are being conducted in connection with a government contract with the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC/I2WD).
