Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The US Army selected the Lockheed Martin Desert Hawk Small Unmanned Air System (SUAS) for participation in Spiral H of the Army Expeditionary Warfighting Experiment (AEWE) at Fort Benning, Georgia. The experiment will take place between January 2013 and early March 2013. Special Temporary Authorization (STA) is necessary because Desert Hawk is not currently owned (or spectrum certified) by the US Government; yet for evaluation purposes, RF communications are required for the transmission of video between airborne and ground nodes.
