LVMPD requests authority from the FCC to operate over the 763-768/793-798 MHz bands and the 758-763/788-793 MHz bands known as the 700 MHz D Block for this project in order to maximize the capabilities of this LTE Demonstration, utilizing the full 20 MHz spectrum intended for the NPSBN.

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide LVMPD and interested public safety agencies with an opportunity to view, test, and receive introductory knowledge to understand the potential benefits and capabilities of the proposed Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) LTE network. The project will provide local coverage in the vicinity of 4615 W. Sunset Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89118, while LVMPD, and its vendor, Alcatel Lucent, runs numerous test scenarios to demonstrate LTE technology to officials and first responders. LVMPD would like to incorporate existing data applications, utilizing mobile and handheld devices while demonstrate data applications intended for first responders.
