Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The equipment is a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), i.e. according to the FCC definition, A field disturbance sensor that is designed to operate only when in contact with, or within one meter of, the ground for the purpose of detecting or obtaining the images of buried objects or determining the physical properties within the ground. The energy from the GPR is intentionally directed down into the ground for this purpose. This equipment is likely to be granted very soon by the FCC (authorization is in progress with FCC ID UFW-SRS-FW400) and compliance to the FCC Part 15.509 already verified by the IMQ Laboratory (Italy) as TCB; however, as the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) required a demonstration of the equipment in October 2009, we would need to get this STA.
