Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
STA is requested to verify functionality of flight alarm system. Garmin is developing aircraft mounted equipment which integrates a flight alarm (FLARM) system operating in the 868.2 to 868.4 MHz frequency band. Equipment is intended for aircraft operating in European airspace. System provides air traffic awareness between the aircraft and gliders or light aircraft not equipped with ADS-B.
