Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The STA will enable Fortem Technologies to test its low weight, low power prototype radar with a prospective customer at their test facility in order to refine its design prior to requesting permanent licensing. This is necessary to support work we are doing for an AFRL contract on counter-drone technology, work with NASA on drone detect and avoid, and additional work on drones we are proposing to the US DoD (Air Force and Army).

Please explain the purpose of operation:
This ultra-small SWAP-C radar has been designed to enable UAVs to detect and avoid other airborne vehicles, thus allowing them to safely fly Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS). The current application covers testing from the ground; subsequent applications will support on-wing testing. This testing will be directed by the engineering team which joined Fortem Technologies when the technology was purchase from IMSAR; the team has managed STA and Experimental Licenses in the past.
