Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Testing of a CB radio system for traveler alert messages in time of emergency. The radio system will broadcast emergency messages over CB radio to alert truck drivers of pending danger. The system will be used in emergency situations only. The CB radio will be controlled through the Floridas Turnpike fiber optic network that runs parallel with the roadway. The test system uses a FCC approved CB radio and a control system manufactured by IDA Corporation to provide remote wire-line control of the system. The proposed test locations will be located at the Turkey Lake service plaza, mile post 263, and mile post 152 of the Turnpike system.
