Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We received funding for a National Science Foundation Research Project. The first experiment will take place December 1st, 2006. The experiment will involve 2-way radios transmitting their locations using GMRS frequencies. The project involving the transmitting radios will last less than 6 months, but it is critical that we have this license by this December. The funding for this project just recently became available, and therfore the project timeline is pressing, thus the choice of an STA. Because the operation is being conducted as a research experiment, it seemed clear that an STA for an experimental license was what was needed.
