Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
EMG USA is filing an STA request for the Live Television Transmission of College football games throughout the 2026-2027 season. EMG USA submits that there are extraordinary circumstances warranting a grant of the STA request. Various networks such as Fox Sports, ESPN, NBC, and CBS Sports have contracted EMG USA to provide the necessary microwave for the Live Transmission of these events. Due to the extreme frequency congestion throughout the United States, coupled with the added congestion from traditional television and news coverage of these special events, EMG USA requests the use of channels in the 2200-2295, 3300-3400, 4500-4900, 6900-7000 MHz telemetry band. EMG USA certifies that the operation of the requested channels for the purposes specified herein will not cause interference to any established stations. EMG requires non-standard frequency band due to both the extensive Part 74 spectrum utilization at the various College Stadiums by numerous production and broadcast elements, and the design of the specialized RF equipment to be deployed. These factors necessitate making coordinated temporary use of additional spectrum in 2GHz, 3GHz, 4GHz and 7GHz band for LPAS operations. EMG is aware some locations will have blockouts and is fully prepared to work with these cities that have some bandwidth blocked out in these frequency bands. If any problems or interference occurs in these cities, EMG will shut down or shift frequencies. EMG will be low power (100mW) and will have stop buzzers in place. Stop Buzzers: George Howson 240.422.2395 and Stephen Tobias 410.564.9291
